most the nwt translates john 1:1 as "... and the word was a god," not "...and the word was god.".

the reason they give is that the word theos doesn't have the definite article in front of it in the greek.. in his 1982 book, "the jehovah's witness' new testament," greek scholar robert countess looked up all such occurrences in the nt (theos without the definite article) and checked the nwt.. he discovered that the wts only followed their stated rule 6% of the time.. 94% of the time, they translated it "god" anyway!.

Makes me laugh how into this people get - it's really very simple: the bible was written by [comparatively] unintelligent men over many years and without any real collaboration, most of the books are not authored by whom they claim, and are full of contradictions, inconsistencies and edits.

You might as well analyse Moby Dick.

attended the circuiit assembly today

well i went with the wife today to the sunday circuit assembly.

it is really sad to listen to the talks and see the many people that i know.

one talk actually suggested that wisdow is wrong , to me it was just more support that we have all you need why do any research on your own.

so this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.

she was rushed to the er.

a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.

Sorry buddy this is really shit, I'll keep it short:

1) You did NOT cause your wife's ill health, in anyway. Even if the situation has been a contributing factor, it's the WT that has enforced this situation, not you

2) JWs are false, don't bother with the JC, they have nothing on you, they are just people - leave them behind

3) There is no God, sorry if that seems harsh now, but as soon as you can accept that you will move on and WILL heal in time.

i notice a lot of the discussions seem to be atheist vs christian here.

or is that just my perception?.

but, do the other people who are neither just not care to debate as much or are there just fewer or them, or both?.

Yea pretty much. I got out an illogical, irrational cult - why join another? I'd rather just be logical from now on.
